Breast cancer is one of the leading diseases affecting women in America today. That’s why each year the Susan G. Komen Foundation sponsors the Race for the Cure. This year’s event was held Sept. 27 in Forsythe Park.

More than 1,000 racers took part in the 5K run, and festivities continued into the morning as visitors and runners alike milled about the park in support of the Komen Foundation’s efforts.

The Race for the Cure is one of the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s largest annual efforts, and this year proved to be one of the biggest races on record. For more information on how you can support Komen’s efforts, visit komennela.org.
