On Thursday, August 17, it was a sea of red and blue at the Monroe Civic Center as Louisiana Tech University celebrated The Happening. Presented by Argent Financial Group, this annual event is the university’s way of kicking off the upcoming school year and football season. Guests were greeted by Tech cheerleaders as they entered the event and enjoyed food from Catfish Charlie’s and music from The Fabulous Equinox Quintet. Head Football Coach Skip Holtz was one of the featured speakers. Holtz, who is entering his fifth season in Ruston, was named the Conference USA Coach of the Year last season after guiding the Bulldogs to the West Division title, an appearance in the C-USA title game and a win over Navy in the Lockheed Armed Forces Bowl.
