Flower Show at Chennault
The Monroe Garden Study League recently hosted a Garden Club of America flower show at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum in Monroe on May 7 – 8. Rosie the Riveter along with General Chennault and his Flying Tigers served as inspiration for the show, themed “We Can Do It!” It featured groundbreaking contemporary floral design, horticulture, photography, botanical art, and a conservation exhibit that explored creating pollinator friendly landscapes. This directly ties in with the Monroe Garden Study League’s work to bring native wildflowers and grasses to the medians of Highway 165 near St. Joseph Nursing Home. Exhibitors for the show came from as far as Hawaii, with representation from both coasts as well as Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
